License

Without a license, the program does not mask data. Nothing happens silently.

Do Not Feed AI works with a license: Pro per seat or Business per company. A trial license is the same kind of license, sent on request. You can see the expiry date in the extension panel, in the License section, and on macOS also in the menu of the Do Not Feed AI icon in the menu bar. The extension warns you before the license ends, gives you 14 more days of full protection after the date, and then tells you plainly that protection is off.

  1. To start

    Trial license

    Request one with the form on the home page (or write to [email protected]) and we will e-mail you a trial license file (.lic), valid for 7 days. You load it just like a regular license (below: how to load it) and get all the features. Toward the end, the extension icon in the chat gets an amber ring, and its tooltip and menu show how many days are left:

  2. 30 days before the end

    Everything works as before. A ! badge appears on the extension icon in the browser toolbar, and the extension panel shows a notice with the end date. 14 days before the end, the icon in the chat window also gets an amber ring, and its menu has a link to renew. This is a good moment to renew the license - a new file loads in a few seconds, with no reinstall.

  3. Up to 14 days after the date

    Grace period: protection keeps working

    The license has formally expired, but nothing switches off for 14 days - time to renew, for example while an invoice waits for approval. This applies to licenses valid for more than 31 days. A license of 31 days or less (for example a 7-day trial) has no grace period: protection switches off on the expiry date, and the warning starts correspondingly earlier. The icon in the chat has an amber ring, and its tooltip and menu show how many days are left:

    What happens

    • the extension does not change messages or files: whatever you type or attach goes to the chat unchanged
    • the red icon with ! in the chat stays visible all the time, also in quiet mode, and its menu has a "buy a license" link
    • replies in tabs opened before the expiry still come back with the originals

    What to do

    • load a new license - protection comes back right away, with the same settings
    • until then, do not send client data to the AI

    Your files are safe. The program masks files added to the chat in memory, without writing them to disk. The dnf command-line tool never overwrites originals - it always masks and restores into new files. After the license expires, all your documents are where they were.

How to load or renew a license

  1. Write to [email protected] - give the number of seats, and when renewing also the company name from the license (you can see it in the extension panel). We will prepare an offer for your company and, once it is accepted, send you a license file (.lic).
  2. macOS: click the Do Not Feed AI icon in the menu bar (next to the clock) and choose Load license… (a file) or Paste license from clipboard (when the license came as text). Windows: click the Do Not Feed AI icon in the browser toolbar, in the License section expand Load a license file, choose the file you received and click Apply.
  3. Done: the icon in the chat is blue again ("active" state), and the panel shows the new expiry date. The license is checked and stored by the program on your computer.

You load the same file on every computer covered by the license. In the dnf program (command line, deployments by the IT department): dnf license install file.lic, and dnf license status checks the state. In a company, MDM can place the file in the data folder.

"Protection unavailable" or "Install the Do Not Feed AI program"

Everything - detection, replacements, restoring replies and the license - is done by the Do Not Feed AI program on your computer; the extension only passes text and files to it. When the program is missing or not responding, the extension does not mask data and says so plainly: the icon in the chat is red with !, and its tooltip and menu give the reason. Before every send it asks whether to send the message without masking, and it holds back files.

  • Install the program: the installer for Windows and macOS is on the home page.
  • The program was there but is not responding: quit the browser completely and start it again. If that does not help, install the program again.
  • "The program is too old": the extension and the program must be the same version - update the program.

Questions

  • Does checking the license send anything to the internet? No. The license is checked on the computer, by the file's digital signature - without connecting to our server.
  • How much does a license cost? We don't publish prices: each offer is prepared for the number of seats and the way you deploy. Write to us - we will prepare an offer for your company.
  • Is there a free version? No. Without a license, protection is off. To try the program, ask for a trial license.
  • I changed the date on my computer and protection switched off. Turning the system clock back switches protection off until the clock shows the correct date again.
